  • Project TypeYouTube Thumbnail Design

  • Tools/Software UsedAdobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

Project Overview:
In 2019, I took on the task of redesigning all of the SF Giants’ YouTube thumbnails, which had been inconsistent and difficult to navigate for years. The primary goal was to create a unified, eye-catching design system for the various video series, making it easier for fans to differentiate between content and encouraging better engagement.

My Role:
I was responsible for the complete overhaul of the Giants’ YouTube thumbnails. This involved creating a clean, consistent design language with clear titles, bold colors, and recognizable branding elements for each series. The redesign ensured that viewers could easily identify their favorite content at a glance, boosting overall user experience.

Challenges & Solutions:
The biggest challenge was ensuring that each video series maintained its unique identity while adhering to a cohesive design system. I achieved this by developing a flexible template that allowed for series-specific colors and icons while maintaining uniformity across the channel. This balance allowed for clear navigation while still giving each series a distinct look.

Outcome & Impact:
Since the redesign, the SF Giants YouTube channel has experienced a substantial increase in subscribers, growing from 10,000 in 2019 to over 125,000 by 2024. The improved organization and visual consistency of the thumbnails helped drive more engagement, making it easier for fans to find and enjoy their favorite content.
